In China, the iPhone loses market leadership for Coolpad

Apple has been overcome in the Chinese market by China Wireless Technologies. China Wireless Technologies unseated the iPhone, which was once the favorite in the country, with its the Coolpad 8060. The device costs five times less than the Apple model, which currently appears in sixth place among the most popular handsets in China.

Sold by 619 yuan (about $ 100, or $ 200), the Coolpad 8060 is a success, and reflects the trend in emerging markets, where high standard of Apple products is not consistent with reality. Thus, the apparatus of the U.S. company began to lose ground to more modest models. The projection is that the Coolpad 8060 selling around 28 million units in China only in 2013, while the iPhone is in sixth place in sales ranking the country.
The decline in popularity of Apple is a very bad sign for the company, as China is today the largest market potential of mobile devices in the world. Other multinationals such as Samsung, ZTE and Lenovo also exceeded the Cupertino giant, riding the wave of smartphones simple and inexpensive.
This, incidentally, is not the first "defeat" the company recently. In Japan, a similar situation happened with the iPad, which lost the top spot in sales for the Nexus 7, Google, which costs $ 130 (about £ 260) unless the iPad mini, which is the cheapest tablet Apple.
Earlier this month, rumors were aware that Apple planned to launch a popular model of iPhone precisely geared to emerging markets such as China, India and Brazil. However, the news was denied by the vice president of the company's marketing, Phil Schiller. According to the executive, cheap handsets "will never be the future of Apple products."
